About your Tutor

A native New Yorker, Nick Santa Maria grew up with an unexplainable affinity for vintage show business, and studied the people, films, television shows, and radio work from previous eras. He has written articles on the subject, film history book forewords, and has written two books, COMEDY CRAZY, 60 Essays About Vintage Comedy (awaiting publishing), and The Annotated Abbott and Costello (available in August via McFarland Publishing). He has also been performing himself for the past 45 years as a stand up comedian, a Broadway actor (GREASE!, and Mel Brooks' THE PRODUCERS), on film in HOLY MAN with Eddie Murphy, The Misadventures of Biffle and Shooster, and THE PRODUCERS. His TV appearances include THE GLADES, THE BUFFALO BILL SHOW, and JELLYBEAN JUNGLE, amongst others. He was also the original Genie in Disney's Aladdin, A Musical Spectacular. In fact, he has performed in every form of show business except Ballet and Circus.

Nick now resides in Florida where he is one of a few go-to guys when it comes to vintage show business information. Nick also teaches courses in film/media history at Cal State Camarillo, and at UCLA. He is now in the process of presenting his programs in theatrical venues.

No one has film comedy down better than Nick.

A course well devised to enlighten those interested in film history. Taught by someone who is not only an expert (he knows just about everything there is to know about classic film/ theater/radio) but Nick has also lived classic comedy, having performed it for too many decades to count. He has not only lived it, breathed it, performed it, but Nick Santa Maria is a pro in every sense of the word in re-creating to perfection the classics of a bygone age.
